Lessons

In an Alexander lesson, you will become aware of the ways you interfere with your natural good design. Alexander teachers use their hands to gently guide you away from habitual response patterns and to help you experience a more integrated co-ordination. A lesson is not about good posture or learning the right way to move. It is an invitation to find out what happens if you say no to the old response. It is a process of unlearning and non-doing.
In a lesson you will explore everyday movements such as sitting, standing and walking. Working lying down is also a helpful way to learn to let go of unnecessary tension and allow the spine to lengthen. You can also choose to explore a particular activity that is relevant to you, such as playing an instrument, sitting at a desk...
For a more interactive approach to learning the technique, you may be interested in a small group or workshop.
